Stainless Steel
Stainless Steel. Manufacturing stainless steel starts with melting scrap metals and additives in an electric arc furnace (EAF). Stainless steels are a group of steels that are resistant to corrosion through the addition of alloying elements.
It is used for wear-resistant projects. This layer prevents corrosion from occurring on. The alloying element that makes steel 'stainless' is chromium; however it is the addition of nickel that enables stainless.
Using high-power electrodes, the EAF heats the metals over the course of many hours to create a molten, fluid mixture.
Industrial Metal Supply is your trusted stainless steel distributor.
Stainless steel blanks, flats, bars, plates, sheet stock, and rod stock are machine-ready to reduce setup time for parts fabrication. In conjunction with low carbon content, chromium imparts remarkable resistance to corrosion and heat. Stainless steel has been in use for more than one hundred years.
