Chocolate Covered Strawberries Recipe. Dip the strawberries in melted chocolate. Prepare desired toppings (nuts, toasted coconut, etc.) Prepare your workspace with a parchment lined baking tray to place the dipped strawberries on.
NOTE: One thing I like to do is go back and double dip the strawberries once they've set. Wash the strawberries and pat dry with paper towels. Dip each strawberry and place on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet.
Hold your pot of chocolate at an angle.
Freezing is not recommended for this recipe because thawing the strawberries releases moisture, which may ruin the chocolate topping.
Put the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and rest it on top of the pan, ensuring the bowl isn't touching the water. Repeat with the rest of the strawberries. In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth.
